Deanie Barth, MSPT is co-owner of Centurion Physical Therapy. Deanie received her masters in physical therapy from New York Medical College in 2000 after completing a post-baccalaureate pre-health program at Columbia University and a bachelors degree in Communication from University of Delaware. Deanie worked as a partner at Forman Physical Therapy after merging her private homecare practice in 2008. She began her physical therapy career in acute rehabilitation at Helen Hayes Hospital while working simultaneously in an out-patient orthopedic clinic, Sports Physical Therapy of New York. In addition, Deanie worked as the consulting physical therapist for New York Therapeutic Riding and Equestria and from there played an integral role in founding GALLOP, Inc., a New York City based non-profit therapeutic horseback riding program serving individuals with disabilities. Deanie also worked as an early intervention therapist (YAI) treating infants and children.
Deanie is committed to providing optimal care for her patients and has taken multiple continuing education courses to supplement her knowledge base. She has had extensive training in manual therapy which she combines with exercise prescription to treat the whole body. Deanie specializes in treatment of the spine, pelvis and hip, but also has over 15 years of experience treating post-surgical, orthopedic and sports related injuries of the upper and lower extremities as well as neurological disorders.
In addition to working full-time at Centurion Physical Therapy, Deanie consults for www.ebeanstalk.com, a toy company geared towards optimal development for children. For ten years she also served as the Activities Director for an annual camp for individuals with Huntington’s Disease which was affiliated with the Neurological Institute at Columbia Presbyterian. Deanie currently sits on the advisory board for GALLOP, Inc., as well as the board for La Palestra Kids.
Deanie prioritizes fitness and is a dedicated athlete with a passion for running. She has completed one Boston and five New York City marathons, multiple half-marathons and has participated in distance relays. In addition, she regularly cycles, swims, paddleboards, hikes and sails.
